The Drum and Bell Tower area of Beijing was a magical place. The two towers were official timekeepers from the era of Kubla Khan in the 13th century. The surrounding neighborhood was full of old Beijing culture and within the past six months all but the towers have been destroyed. In its place yet another theme park will emerge. Such a travesty.
